On 14 May of the month, in an affidavit submitted to the Delhi High Court, WhatsApp stated that the policy update was not mandatory, giving users the option of deleting their account or not using it.
The affidavit also names several private companies, including Google, Microsoft, Zoom and Ola Cabs, and state-owned companies Arogya Setu, Bhima and IRCTC, which WhatsApp has claimed has an updated privacy policy and WhatsApp has also released an explanation in an effort to address users' privacy concerns.
